  • Host a disco where Guides are encouraged to bring their friends.
  • Have a sleepover where families and friends donate for the unit/district/region to sleep rough for the night.
  • A trivia night.
  • A cake stall at a local market.
  • A barbecue.

Where can I find information about Girl Guides fundraising rules?

Any activities or events need to follow all standard procedures for Girl Guiding activities including risk assessments etc. All relevant information can be found within Guidelines. There is a “Fundraising” information page within Guidelines which is the best place to find what you might need for fundraising in general; particularly taking note that youth members are not being permitted to take part in organising or conducting a raffle.

Homelessness in Australia

Did you know that women over 55 years old are the highest growing cohort of people experiencing homelessness in Australia?

Did you also know that in the 5 years from 2016 to 2021 there has been a 10% increase in women and girls experiencing homelessness in Australia?

This is heartbreaking and unacceptable and we are doing something about it.

  • There are 122,494 homeless people across Australia every day (ABS 2021).
  • This year over 45,800 Aussies will sleep on the street (ABS 2021).
  • In 2011-22 over 81,000 requests for accommodation from homeless people across Australia could not be met (AIHW 2022).
  • Backpack Bed for Homeless is a national homeless charity making a difference in the lives of Aussies sleeping on our streets.
