I'm raising funds for Backpack Bed for Homeless
I run a local food pantry in the Rosebery area to support families who are struggling, particularly those facing challenges with high rent or financial hardship. In addition to the pantry, we also host a free morning tea and exercise class every Wednesday morning for the elderly and lonely, offering them a much-needed social outlet and sense of community.
Currently, we support two domestic violence shelters, one in Redfern and the other in Parramatta, as well as a church in Mascot. Most recently, we helped furnish a unit for a young family who had been homeless but are now settled into housing. This initiative is part of our broader mission to support vulnerable individuals in the community.
With winter approaching, we are looking to extend our efforts by providing backpack beds for the homeless. These beds would be an invaluable resource, especially for those living on the streets or in temporary shelters. Our initial aim is to help the two homeless shelters we’ve been working with, but ultimately, we hope to reach even more people in need.
