My Fundraising
Every year my school (Cornish College) does an event called the Winter Sleepout .This is an opt-in event where we create and decorate our own box shelters and sleep on campus in them for one night. We do activities like packing hot meals and discuss on how homelessness is affecting so many people harshly in our local community.
Overall we gain a deeper understanding and empathy for what homeless people have to deal with every day, and it's a lot of fun to spend the night with friends. All donations and money we raise is going towards making Backpack Beds to help rough sleepers in Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula.
Having done the Winter Sleepout previously last year, I got to raise an amazing total of $817, which I'm sure really contributed to the cause. However, I feel I have much to learn for this year and I'm sure with a bunch of support and experience at the event, we could raise even more to help those in need of a Backpack Bed.

wait for how much we can get as a school together!
Cornish College Winter Sleepout 2026
Once again Cornish College students from years 6 to 12 will come together on Friday June 5th to sleep out in the cold to raise money for the amazing charity Backpack Bed for Homeless.
They are a national charity that provides Backpack Beds to street sleeping homeless people.
The Backpack Bed is a portable emergency bed that is waterproof and fire retardant. It keeps people warm safe and dry during times of extreme hardship.
All donations from our community are greatly appreciated!
