12% increase in number of homeless people 2022 - 2023 (HUD 2023).

1,632 people in Chicago are unsheltered tonight*.

5,157 people are homeless in Chicago tonight. 1,632 of them are unsheltered*.
Over a 1 year period there will be a turnover of people on the streets. A conservative minimum is 4 times per year.
Therefore, 1,632 x 4 = 6,528 unsheltered people need a Backpack Bed.
